Biomedical Scientist (Band 8a) – Spitalfields

Merco Medical Staffing is currently seeking experienced Biomedical Scientists to support a client who is expanding their rapidly growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a blood testing laboratory, contributing to a high-performing and dynamic clinical environment.

Role Details:

• Position: Senior Biomedical Scientist (Band 8a)
• Location: Spitalfields
• Hours: 7:30am start, 8-hour shifts
• Commitment: Minimum 1 day per week (ongoing, regular work)
• Contract Type: Long-term locum
• Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Work across core laboratory disciplines including clinical chemistry, haematology, and immunoassay
• Operate and maintain laboratory analysers with precision and efficiency
• Ensure compliance with ISO 15189 standards
• Deliver accurate results in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment

Requirements:

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
• Relevant BSc (Hons) degree accredited by IBMS
• Proven experience with Abbott Alinity (ci-series) analysers (essential)
• Familiarity with Sysmex XN-series haematology analysers (desirable)
• Strong knowledge of ISO 15189 standards
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
• Experience in POCT, rapid diagnostics, or high-throughput settings (advantageous)
