You will be contributing to our clients model of care and 'Wellbeing Approach' – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
About the Job
As a Prison Nurse - you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives.
Are you new to prison healthcare?
Do not worry... you will be supported and mentored by experienced teams of highly skilled nurses and practitioners as well as management. We ask that you have either an A&E background, or experience of dealing with difficult patients. Experience of working with alcohol / substance abuse is also an advantage.
Ideally you need to be ILS trained, wound care/dressings, immunisations, vaccinations and phlebotomy.
HMP Bullingdon is a local Prison holding both remanded and sentenced prisoners. HMP Bullingdon also accommodates young adults between the ages of 18-21.
Shift options are Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:30 (or 07:30 - 21:00)
Weekends: 08:30 - 17:30 (or 08:30 - 21:00)
